Buckeye's FFA team was named as one of 12 finalists chosen to compete in the 2011 Delo Tractor Restoration Competition at FFA's national convention in October in Indianapolis.
Buckeye's team entered their restoration of a 1954 Allis-Chalmers WD-45, with every school entering on a different model.
As part of the competition, the teams will have to present a workbook outlining the tractor restoration process to a panel of tractor restorers. They will be graded on restoration process, results and documentation as well as oral presentation and safety precautions.
The prizes include $5,000 for the champion, $3,000 for reserve champion and $1,500 for third place. The projects will be presented on Oct. 19 and 20, with the winners being named that evening. Buckeye is the only team in Ohio to be named as a finalist.
More information about the competition can be found on its Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DeloTRC. In addition, a video of Buckeye's tractor and those of the other finalists can be found at http://chevron.demandstrategies.com/delotrc/
The finalists were determined by users voting for their favorite on the Web site and announced on Facebook of the afternoon of Sept. 19.
